“Museum in the Village” Nominated for the Public Choice Award The SAMP project

“Museum in the Village” is among the 30 projects eligible to win another European distinction, but this time, the choice is in the hands of the public!

Voting for the Public Choice Award of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards begins on August 11, and the SAMP project “Museum in the Village” is one of the nominees.

This competition for European public favor features the best projects enhancing and promoting European Cultural Heritage. There are a total of 30 projects from 18 EU countries, including 2 from Portugal.

This is the first time Portugal is represented by a project from Leiria in these Awards, in the category of Citizen Awareness and Engagement. The SAMP project “Museum in the Village” achieved significant recognition by a distinguished and specialized jury, honoring all communities, museums, municipalities, and partners involved, as well as the project team itself. This accomplishment qualifies the project for the “Grand Prize” and the “Public Choice Award.”

We invite the entire community to vote for the Museum in the Village Project and contribute to our potential distinction, this time by all of you!

How to Vote for the Museum in the Village Project:

The Public Choice Award is determined through a public voting system, inviting everyone to vote for their favorite projects through the Europa Nostra platform.

Voting begins on August 11 and closes on September 11, 2022. To support the project and bring this distinction and recognition to Portugal, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Europa Nostra website – here;
  2. Choose your top 3 favorite projects in order of preference (the first receives 3 points, the second 2 points, and the third 1 point);
  3. Confirm the vote in your email (without this confirmation, the vote will not be counted).

You can also help the SAMP project “Museum in the Village” gain more visibility during this voting period by leaving a comment or message on the Europa Nostra website at the end of the voting.

The application of the Museum in the Village project for the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards sought to achieve recognition for the collaborative network work that the participants from the 26 municipalities have been dedicated to in recent years. This work has been devoted to the elderly communities who have greatly benefited from the valorization of their cultural heritage and traditions that are part of their past, present, and undoubtedly deserve to be part of their future!

Awards Ceremony:

The Awards Ceremony will take place on September 26, Monday, at the State Opera in Prague, Czech Republic. The event will be attended by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth, and Hermann Parzinger, Executive President of Europa Nostra.

During the Ceremony, in addition to the Awards presentation by category, the winners of the “Public Choice Award” and the “Grand Prize” will also be announced.
